Christie had been Steven's girlfriend since he first appeared in the line of Barbie and Friends.    Christie had a boyfriend that lasted longer than Brad and he appeared in different scenes, but mainly the beach scene.  It seemed like Christie and Steven would remain a couple forever.  But in 2005, Christie was replaced with Nikki in Beach Fun and Fashion Fever and  she was now  seen with Steven.

Christie meets the first Black Fashion Doll by Mattel. They are both reproductions. The original Francie was created in 1967 and Christie followed a year after. Black Francie was not seen again until  the 2000’s as a reproduction but never in a regular series.

Two lovely Christies with plastic fabric in their outfits. Secret Message Christie wears a plastic  jacket. She came with a locker that she could leave secret messages in for someone to find. Picture Perfect Christie came with a hole puncher in a shape of a butterfly. You could punch out pictures to fit perfectly in one of the plastic pockets on her dress.

In the late 80’s Christie started to get different hair colors.  She appears in this photo with Barbie too. Sitting down is 1996 Hula Hair Barbie. In the back row are 1987 Island Fun Christie, 1993 Camp Fun Barbie and 1991 Totally Hair Barbie.  As the years go forward, it is difficult to know the difference between Christie and Barbie.  These dolls can be separated based on their various  hair colors. Christie would get long hair like Totally Barbie a few years later.

Superstar Christie came in the size of 12" and supersize 18".  I had the supersize as a child.  She came with glittery jewelry.  The supersize came with jewelry for you.

In 1981 Sunsational Malibu Christie and Sunsational Malibu Ken were created and they were listed as friends of Barbie. This was the first time that a black Ken had been created and he look great with his real hai.  (Note: The 1983 Ken had molded hair under the same name, Sunsational Malibu).  Brad had been gone for almost 10 years and Christie decided to go to the beach with Ken. In the series there is a Blonde Barbie and Ken, but the photo on the box shows Ken and Christie together.

Each of these Christies came with something a little extra.
Cool clips Christie came with hair clips for you and her.
Christie with the knapsack with her belly top.
Fruit style Christie had an orange scent smell and  came with a fruit belt for you.
Rain or shine  Christie had a working umbrella for her
Amazing Nails Christie came with plastic nails for the you. 

Each Christie has a different look, which was great because growing up she had one look for the longest and the late nineties brought new face and skin tone  changes.

Christie is taking pictures with Steven from 1990's with his molded Afro and Steven from the 2000's with his real hair. I loved the fact that Steven finally got real hair.  Beyond Pink Christie finally meets 1968 Christie and Brad.

Christie has had several body changes over the years.  She went from slightly bendable at  the knees to full splits.

Her body has allowed more flexibility for sitting and stretching.  Beyond Pink Christie in Black is able to sit  in a chair without falling. It works better if she is wearing  pants. Dance Moves Christie or Barbie can do a full split.  This one came dress in blue and I redressed her.  The box says Barbie but Teresa is identified so I figured there was a mistake and she should be Christie. Her box said, "you can make her move like a real dancer”.  In the back is Jewel Girl Christie.  She was created in 2000 with first time Ever Flex waist.  The doll on the end has traditional bendable legs that were standard on most dolls. I cannot remember her name. 
I wish when I started collecting in  1991 that I tagged each one, but when  you start, you think you will remember every dolls’ name.

My favorite Christie.  She has bendable and flexible arms and legs. She came with personal info.  She had the info on the back of the box.  Until this Christie, there was little info about her after Talking Christie.

These are the Butterfly Art Dolls.   This is one of the rare times that I purchase Christie, Steven, Barbie, Teresa, Kira, and Ken.  I thought I was going to be rich.  The dolls were in the toy stores, but parents were in an uproar because it was promoting tattoos.  Mattel had all the dolls removed.  I was so happy I was able to get them before they were removed.  Just my luck,  they came back on the shelves within the year.  There goes my early retirement.

Some of the series that Christie was in was dealt with beach or water.  This is probably where she met her last boyfriend Steven. Brad was gone and now a new guy was on the scene. She appeared in several series with him.  In this photo: Cali Girl Christie.  She came with different feet. She had bigger flat feet and could not wear any of the old shoes. She came with a paper surf board.  Beach Party Steven. Flip and Dive Christie. She loves to do flips

off her cool diving board.  She came with her own diving board.

In these series no one came with shoes.

She is a little shy about her feet.

This Christie is Party Party Party Christie.  She was an exclusive for Walmart.  This is one of the few Christies that I left in the box. I like the gift set and did not want to separate it. The back of the box came with Party invites.

These Christies came with something extra

Chair Flair Christie came with an ever flex waist and chair.  “Hanging out with my friends is fun in our cool butterfly chair”.
Fashion Photo Christie came with a camera and stand to move her into different poses. Her waist was flexible to create various poses.
Secret Spells Christie came with Barbie and Kayla- the power of 3.  The dolls were loosely based on the television show Charmed.  She came with a secret book compartment and potions. She was school girl by day and witch at night.
Cut and Style Christie. This is the second doll under this name. The first one was created in 1994.  You could cut her growing hair again and again.  She came with extra pieces of hair to add.

Day 5 of Christie tribute:

Christie has had several hairstyles over the years. Pop life Christie wears a short hair cut. The first one since the 1970.  She is surrounded by Jam and Glam Christie. She is showing her blue hair but with  a twist of the scalp, she is now wearing black hair. Glam and Groom Christie was a gift set with her pet dog, Keely. She wears two curly pigtails.  I love the hair and orange jumpsuit on Cool Lookz Trent and Bendy.  Hollywood Nails Christie has hair that is  single strands that looks like microbraids.  She is one of the first Christie’s that came in two versions.  The faces and hair are different.  The hairstyles have two different cuts and textures.

Malibu Christie.

After the 1969 Christie, she would never wear short  hair again until 2007 with Pop Life Christie..  Live Action Christie is the first one to wear Long straight hair.  Live Action made a one time appearance and then she was gone. There are two versions of Malibu Christie and then she was gone. They are unique in that you can clearly identify them as Christie.

Christie has a date for her celebration and it is talking Brad.  He looks good after being gone for 50 years.   Talking Brad would say,   My Name is Brad, what is yours? CHRISTIE is the greatest. Baseball is my favorite sport.  Come on, let’s go to the movies.  I dig the mod look. Hey, Let’s all go for a ride.  The love affair would only last a short time and he would never be seen again.
