Remembering her dancing past. Maya Angelou was a dancer during the 50"s. Maya Angelou and Ailey formed a dance team, calling themselves "Al and Rita", and performed Modern Dances throughout San Francisco. She would study dance with Trinidadian dancer Pearl Primus., She performed calypso dance. During 1954 and 1955, Angelou toured Europe with a production of the opera Porgy and Bess.
We remember her works "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings", "Still I Rise", "Phenomenal Women".
