Christmas Action Figures 2013

For Christmas, I was able to find the Kenya male dolls.  Like  http://blackdollcollecting.blogspot.com, I wanted them for Christmas.  I could not find them in Walmart or in any other store.  So, I went to the Kenya doll website hoping to find them.  I was able to purchase the dolls from the website.  I think TJ may come in two different shades.  The other figures are Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Idris Elba as Heimdall.

Celebrate Kwanzaa from Dec 26 to Jan 1.

Kwanzaa is a holiday recognizing and strengthening the bonds of famiuly, community, and traditional culture about people of African/ African American heritage.  The celebration lasts 7 days and each day a different priniciple  or Nguzo Saba  is celebrated.  One of the principles is Imani.

Remembering Nelson Mandela

We lost a Great Man today. He became South Africa's first black president. He dedicated his life for freedom for his people and fought against Apartheid. His legacy will live on.

November is Native American Heritage Month

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

I have several Native American Dolls and Action Figures in my collection.



Kocoum from Pocahantas, Geronimo, Discount Doll, Chief Powhatan-Pochantas Father, Totsy, Totsy, Sitting Bull

When the movie Pochantas came out, many companies created Native American dolls.  There were several male dolls that were created by Mattel (Kocoum), Applause (Chief Powhatan) and Totsy.  The male dolls from Totsy came with  wives and children.

Sitting Bull and Geronimo were created in the action figure line.

Urban Action Showcase Festival

On Saturday, November 9, 2013, I attended the Urban Action Showcase as a guest of a friend.  They had an awards ceremony to honor action heroes of the past and present.  Fred Williamson, Taimak, Michael Jai White, Kelly Hu, Ron Van Clif.  This is my tribute photo.

After reading different blogs, I went  to Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and The Disney Store.  I went looking for the different male dolls that was talked about on the blogs.   I could not find the African American male cheerleading doll,  Kenya's boyfriend or G.I. Joe Roadblock.   I did find a new Steven -swimming series and the Disney Store's Lu Shang dolls.

The One World Doll Project is a doll company that Stacey McBride is the doll designer. I had ordered a doll from them relating to Obama's reelection. 

I received this letter in  the mail and I thought it was junk mail. Good thing I opened it . There was a refund check.

2013 NBDC- Fashion Show- Pazette Barbie

I wore the Stephen Burrows Pazette Barbie Outfit.  I crocheted the outfit.  Thanks to my sister who did my headpiece with my assistance.   It took about 2.5 hours to complete the headpiece on the Friday of the Fashion show.  We used 10 bags of feathers.
