It was truly exciting to watch them win and Gabby Douglas was fantastic. She was the only one on the team to compete in the vault, balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercises.
This was the last time the U.S. women won a gold medal in the team competition.
I was going to do a post on Olympic Barbies. Other than this one and the pin collector, how many other Olympic Barbies have there been?

Thanks for sharing this doll. I wasn't aware of Olympics Barbies after the 1974 (1976?) ones ;-P
ReplyDeleteHi D7ana... MDW's featured Olympic Barbie is the one I used to create my Ruth tribute doll. I also have another Gymnast Barbie that wears a hot pink leotard, but I am not sure if she was Olympics connected, but probably based on the gold medal necklace she wears. I'll have to check my references and create a list.

Thanks, DBG! I have a Workout Christie with this Christie head mold, but she wears a mostly yellow outfit. It becomes her complexion, but I missed MWD's Olympic doll shown above.
DeleteThanks, MWD, too for sharing this information ;-)
Yes!!, Congrats to them all. Gabby knew she was a champion all along and now the world knows it. I cheered and cried for her at the same time!!
